A school app for small preschools in India

The little days are the ones parents remember.

NurseryNote puts your preschool’s homework, notices, holidays and fee updates straight onto every parent’s phone. Parents stay close to their child’s day. Your school looks organised — and grows on the strength of it.

Launching soon on Android phones — iPhone later. Write to hello@nurserynote.com and we’ll tell you when it goes live.

A parent’s phone showing the NurseryNote home screen: a good-afternoon greeting, the child’s picture, today’s homework, the fee marked paid, and a pending leave request.
Wizu, the NurseryNote owl: a friendly blue owl wearing round brown glasses, with an open book for eyebrows.

One app. Three people, three different screens.

Nobody wades through somebody else’s work. Each person opens the app and sees only what is theirs.

  • For parents

    Parent

Homework, notices, fee status and holidays for each of your children — on one screen, in one tap.

The NurseryNote parent home screen: a greeting, the child's picture, and cards for homework, fees and leave.
  • For teachers

    Teacher

Your classes and your children. Post homework in under a minute and get on with your day.

The NurseryNote teacher home screen: class circles across the top and a list of the children in the selected class.
  • For the principal

    Principal

Today's whole school on one screen — unpaid fees, leaves waiting on you, new alerts, the next holiday.

The NurseryNote principal home screen: four glance cards for fees, leaves, alerts and holidays, plus quick actions.

Working today

What the app does right now.

Not a roadmap. This is what a school gets on the day it starts.

  • Homework

The teacher posts it once. Every parent in that class has it on their phone seconds later.

  • Announcements

Fee date moved? PTM on Saturday? One notice reaches every parent and every teacher at once.

  • Alerts that actually arrive

Real push notifications, not an email nobody opens. The right phones light up on their own.

  • Fees

Mark a fee paid and the parent sees it straight away. Send a gentle reminder to whoever has not paid.

  • Leave requests

A parent asks from the app. The principal taps approve or reject. The family is told the same moment.

  • Holidays

Add a holiday once and the whole school knows — parents and teachers together.

  • A web panel for the school

The phone is for the day-to-day. The bigger jobs — students, classes, staff — sit on a computer.

  • Sign in with Google

Parents and teachers have no password to forget, and none for you to reset.

See it

This is the actual app, not a drawing of one.

Six screens straight off a phone, with what each one saves you.

See who has paid, without opening a register.

Every child for the month, with the amount — and the date, once it is paid. Tap a name to mark it paid, or send a gentle reminder to whoever has not.

The principal’s Fees screen: counters for unpaid, yet to come and collected, then a list of children with Paid or Unpaid beside each one.

Tell every parent one thing, once.

The whole form is four things: a headline, the message, a PDF if you have one, and who it goes to. It reaches every parent in your school at the same moment — no group to keep up to date, and nobody left off it.

The principal’s New announcement screen: a headline box, a message box, an optional PDF attachment, and the audience set to Whole school.

Your teachers post the day’s work in under a minute.

Write it, post it, and every parent in that class has it. If they get it wrong they can edit or delete it themselves.

The teacher’s Homework screen: class circles for Nursery, KG and All classes across the top, and two posted homework items below, each with edit and delete.

The parent hears it from you, not from another parent.

Homework, notices, holidays and fee updates arrive as real phone notifications and stay in one list they can filter.

A parent’s Notifications screen: filter pills for fees, announcements, holidays, leave and homework, then fee-paid and new-homework alerts.

Leave stops arriving as a message at eleven at night.

The parent asks in the app, with the dates and the reason, and it waits on you instead of in your messages. Open it to approve or reject, and the family is told straight away.

The principal’s Leaves screen filtered to Pending: one request showing the child, the class, the dates and the reason given.

A parent can check the fee themselves.

What is pending, what was paid, when, and how — month by month. That is a phone call your office stops having to take.

A parent’s Fees screen: a total-pending banner, then each month’s tuition fee with a Paid badge, the date it was paid, and that it was paid in cash.

Every screen above comes from the demo school we use to show the app. The children in them are made up. No real school and no real child appears anywhere on this page, and none ever will without that family being asked first.

Wizu, the NurseryNote owl: a friendly blue owl wearing round brown glasses, with an open book for eyebrows.

Why we built it

A preschool year is short. Most of it happens where parents cannot see.

A three-year-old cannot tell you about their day. So the first two years of school — the letters traced, the songs learned, the first friend — reach home as a shrug and a “nothing”. Parents miss the part they most wanted to see.

NurseryNote is the small daily thread back. Today’s homework. The notice about Saturday. The holiday next week. Little things, but they add up to a parent who feels close to their child’s school instead of outside it.

And that is also how a small preschool grows. Parents who feel looked after talk. In this business, word of mouth is the whole marketing budget — so the office running smoothly is not the goal here. It is just how we get there.

Who is behind it

I am not a school person. I am a father.

My daughter started preschool, and I built this for the kind of school she goes to — thirty to a hundred children, a principal doing six jobs at once, and nothing like the budget for the systems built for big chains.

This page carries no school logos and no count of how many schools use it, because it is early. What there is, is an app that works, and a real person at the other end of the email address at the bottom of this page.

Children’s information. Handled like it.

  • Built in India, for Indian preschools

Rupee fees, Indian school terms, and the person who answers your email sits in the same time zone as you.

  • Every school sees only its own school

One school’s children, fees and notices are never visible to another.

  • Parents can take their data with them

There is a Download my data button inside the app, under More — no form to fill in, no email to send.

Exactly what we collect, why, who can see it and how long we keep it is written in plain words in our Privacy Policy.

Straight answers

The questions we get asked before anything else.

Including the two most companies leave off the page.

What does it cost?

We are not selling it yet, so there is no price to give you. NurseryNote will go out to a small number of schools first, and what it costs will be worked out with them.

Who can see my parents’ and children’s information?

Your principal, the teachers you have given a class to, and that child’s own guardians. One school’s children, fees and notices are never shown to another school.

And us. We run the servers, so our own support access can reach it on a need-to-see basis — that is true of anyone who hosts software for you. We would rather tell you here than have you find it in the policy and wonder what else we left out.

We do not sell it, hand it to advertisers, or use it to profile anyone. The services we run on — Google sign-in, our hosting, our error monitoring, our email — hold it as our suppliers; our Privacy Policy lists each one and says what it gets.

My teachers are not technical. Is that going to be a problem?

A teacher does two things on their phone: sign in with the Google account already on it, and tap a button to post homework. On the phone there is no password to remember, nothing to set up, and no training day.

The web panel is the one place that does use an email and password, and that is mostly your desk rather than theirs. If a teacher gets stuck anywhere, they write to us and we sort it out with them — it does not land back on you.

What happens if I decide to stop using it?

You stop. There is no contract and no notice period.

Every parent can pull their own records out from inside the app — More → Download My Data — and anyone can ask us to strip their personal details, which we also do on our own 30 days after an account is deleted. The school records themselves we hold a while longer, for audit and academic history; the Privacy Policy says exactly how long and why.

Do parents have to install something? Is it on the Play Store?

Yes — one app, on an Android phone. It is not on the Play Store yet, and that is exactly where it is going: it is in the last round of testing Google asks for before a public listing.

When it is public, the Play Store is how you will get it — the same place you get every other app on your phone. We do not send schools an app file to install by hand. That asks your teachers to switch a safety warning off on their own phones, and we would rather wait than start you off that way.

We are not going to promise you a date, because the step after that is Google’s review and not ours. If you want to know when it goes live, tell us and we will write to you — and the badge at the top of this page becomes a real link. iPhone is not built.

What about parents who do not have a smartphone?

Then NurseryNote does not reach them, and you will still need whatever you use for those families today. There is no text-message fallback and no printed sheet — it is a phone app or it is nothing.

You know your parents better than we do. If a lot of them are in that position, this is not the right thing for your school yet, and we would rather you heard that from us in week one.

Can parents pay their fees through the app?

No. You mark a fee paid and the parent sees the status and the date change on their phone straight away, but the money still reaches you exactly the way it does today.

Online payment is not built, and we do not handle anyone’s money.

Who puts my students and teachers in?

You do, from the web panel — students, classes and staff all live there, and there is no limit today on how many you add.

If you already keep a list, send it over and we will help you get it in rather than leave you typing it out. That is a one-off job, and it is the only setting-up there is.

Something not answered here? Write to hello@nurserynote.com. A question we cannot answer honestly is the most useful thing you can send us.

Get in touch

Talk to us about your school.

Tell us how many children you have and how you tell parents things today. We will tell you honestly whether NurseryNote helps you yet.

You will be writing to the person who actually builds it. No sales desk in between.
